Launching Serpentine’s pioneering new publication, Reader

It’s been a real pleasure to launch Serpentine's new and innovative publication last month, Reader.

Reader provides a space for deep research, reflection and creative exploration across diverse formats. The inaugural issue explores the theme of Circulation – how we navigate flows of information, energy, culture, and meaning in today’s interconnected world. Each issue features contributions from artists, writers and thinkers who are passionate about immersive storytelling and pushing the boundaries of literary expression.

As a leader in arts and culture, Serpentine have long had a desire to craft a leading publication. Since 2020, the gallery has had a small online-only magazine named Arts & Ideas, but Reader was to be its long-anticipated successor.

The new publication was released in physical form at select bookstores, alongside a web version. Working closely with the editorial team, we were tasked with co-leading on the brand and introducing an engaging website experience.

At Effect, I had a blast leading the online version of this project, alongside a talented team (Sanjay, Paul, Jamie, Lewis, Zoe) and client Hanna Girma. We’re really pleased with the finished result!

To celebrate the release, we were also invited to the launch event. Watch our vlog here.
